Easter 2016

We spent Easter in Columbus this year.  We were all getting over colds so we opted to just stay home and not expose everyone to our germs.  We spent Saturday just relaxing at home and having lots of family time.  We colored Easter eggs, played outside and have a movie night.  The next day after church, the kids found their Easter baskets (that sneaky bunny hid them!), we had cinnamon rolls and watched “It’s the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown”.  Then we headed over to Grandma Rita’s for Easter lunch.  It was such a beautiful day outside!  We had an Easter egg hunt and took a walk after lunch to enjoy the sunshine.  It was such a nice day.  They even sang Happy Birthday to me (with an Easter Peep cupcake)!  We FaceTimed with Kiki and Aunt Sha-Sha later and spent the rest of the day just relaxing at home.  It was a (very much needed) peaceful weekend!

Happy 4th Birthday Evelyn!!

How is it possible that Evelyn is one year older?!

Every year on her birthday I think this, and this year was no exception.  4 years have flown by in a blink and she’s full-fledged little girl now.  It makes my heart ache a little that her baby and toddler years are over.  She looked at me the other day and said “Mama when I’m three again, can we have another party?”  I had to explain to her that she will never be three again.  It broke my heart a little!  Like it or not, however, our girl is four now.

Evie is a pretty cool kid these days.  She so smart and absolutely loves to learn.  Her teacher tells me each week that Evie is doing fabulous at school and it makes us so proud.  She can be so kind and she loves playing with the other kids.  The other day we were a little bit late getting to preschool and when we walked in, all of the other kids were already there and they all turned and said “Hi Evelyn!”  Her best friend at school, Noelle, ran up to Evie, gave her a hug and said “Evelyn I am so happy to see you!”  It was adorable!  Evie is also an excellent big sister to Mitchell.  She is so sweet and kind to him and she really looks out for him.  Mitch absolutely adores his big sister!  I’ll hear her say “Come on buddy’ and off they go.  They play so well together (most of the time anyway).

For all of Evie’s good qualities, she can be a handful sometimes too.  She’s one of the most stubborn kids I’ve ever met and she can have a huge attitude.  That said, when she is in one of her moods and you meet her with kindness and patience, she tends to snap out of it fairly quickly.  Evie is feisty and quick-tempered, but she has a heart of gold.
