Things I don’t want to forget about this holiday season….

This season past by in such a blur and, try as I might, I know I can't remember everything.
Here are some of the highlights for us.

Our first Christmas party!
Visiting Lima to see GiGi Marker and introduce her to Mitchell.  It was a long-overdue visit and we had fun!
Watching Grandpa Tim crawl around on the floor after Mitchell at GiGi Marker’s house.
Watching Evie play with her 2nd (3rd?) cousins.  She had so much fun with Andrew, Jonathan, Maria and Joseph.  And Mitch loved playing with Gianna!
Celebrating Christmas at Grandma Rita’s house.
Evie flinging herself into the pile of presents at my parents’ house like they were a pile of leaves.
Having dinner with my dad at Max and Erma’s in Wilmington.  He was kind enough to meet us halfway so we would only have one car in NKY since Pat had to work Christmas Eve day and I wanted to go to church with my family.  I loved watching Evie’s face light up when she saw him sitting at the table waiting for us and watching her run to him and throw her arms around him.
Watching my dad search the restaurant and his car for Evie’s Barbie’s tiny pink shoes.  I swear he’ll do anything to make her smile.
Reminiscing with my dad about Christmases past on the way to NKY.
Getting 5 days off work and spending each day with my kids.  We all really, really needed that time!
Mitch and I doing some last minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve day with my dad.  We had fun goofing off at Party Source!
Seeing Evie rock out with her new music set with Grandma Rita.
Watch Mitchell try to devour every piece of wrapping paper and gift bag within his reach, saying ‘Mitch – what do you think you are?  A goat?’, and having Evie reply ‘No Mama.  Don’t you know he’s just a baby!’
Seeing Evie sleeping next to Maria at the Klare’s house on Christmas Eve, sugarplums no doubt dancing in their heads.
Seeing the way that Evie practically vibrated with excitement and anticipation in the days leading up to Christmas.
Christmas Eve dinner at Shannon’s after church.  She even had a hot chocolate station!!
Laughing and having fun while playing Catch Phrase on Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning in KY.  It was the first year that Evie really had any idea what was going on.  We loved getting to see her open her presents and get so excited about her new toys.
Eating a delicious Christmas Day breakfast (crock-pot egg casserole and a French toast casserole) courtesy of Shannon and my mom
Seeing my children with my grandma – they love GG Ruth!
Watching Cal and Mitch snooze together on Christmas.
New Year’s Eve at Grandpa Tim & Grandma Katharine’s house.  We had so much fun with everyone and Evie loved getting to play with Lane!
Seeing how much love our families have for our children.  I’m not just talking about the physical gifts they give, although they spoil our children rotten.  Even more valuable to me is the gifts of time, attention and love that our families give our children.  I feel like I cannot thank them enough for this or convey just how grateful Pat and I are to them.  So often, we get caught up in the hectic life that comes with having small children.  Many times, I feel like I can barely get through a conversation with someone without being interrupted.  I hope they know, even if we forget to say it sometimes, how thankful we are.   We are so incredibly blessed!
